Success Story: WACKER & Nordmann Partnership

Interview series – Part 3: A Look at Slovenia

Local presence, quick decision-making, and a shared understanding of the market – why the partnership between WACKER and Nordmann in Slovenia is particularly successful. Since the launch of the strategic partnership in the field of silicone elastomers in April 2025, the collaboration between WACKER and Nordmann in Europe has developed extremely successfully.

In a new series of interviews, we speak with colleagues from various countries about their experiences, successes, and market observations. We kicked things off with France and Italy. Now, Nordmann News spoke with Otto König, Managing Director of Nordmann Slovenia, about the response in the Slovenian market.

1. Otto, what distinguishes the collaboration between Nordmann and WACKER in Slovenia?

Otto: Our collaboration is characterized by a high degree of responsiveness and a deep understanding of the market. In the event of short-term supply bottlenecks or unplanned demand, we respond quickly, pragmatically, and with a focus on solutions—in some cases even with solutions outside the originally defined framework.

Especially in geopolitically challenging times, this flexibility is a clear competitive advantage. Crucial to this is the shared understanding of responsibility between both partners. This builds trust and ensures long-term stability in the partnership.

2. And how do customers benefit?

Otto: Our partnership is clearly technology- and specialty-oriented and combines international reach with a consistent local focus—in the spirit of “local best.” This means: in-depth on-site expertise, short decision-making processes, and close proximity to the customer.

Building on this, our teams work closely and in sync—they speak the same language, both professionally and culturally. This shared understanding and compatible DNA form the foundation for genuine teamwork on equal footing.

For our clients, this means: requirements are quickly understood, precisely categorized, and implemented with a clear focus. Together, we translate our know-how directly into marketable solutions – knowledge in action.

The result is tailor-made solutions, quick response times, and reliable, competent support throughout the entire process.

3. How have the portfolio and market focus evolved in Slovenia?

Otto: Since the expansion of the partnership in April 2025, our portfolio of silicone elastomers has grown significantly—and with it, the opportunities in the market. Silicone elastomers are particularly relevant to us strategically because they cover an exceptionally wide range of applications.

Today, together with WACKER, we offer the complete spectrum for industrial applications:

LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber), HCR (High Consistency Rubber), additives, and compounds—from ELASTOSIL® to SILPURAN® to POWERSIL®.

LSR applications are developing particularly dynamically in the automotive, textile, and electronics sectors.  Current key focuses include LSR 6240 for applications in the textile industry and the LSR 3000 series for the automotive sector.

Another particularly promising growth area for WACKER’s silicone elastomers in Slovenia and Southeast Europe is high-voltage insulation in the electronics sector—a market that was long underestimated and now offers significant potential. Together with WACKER, we are systematically expanding this business, supported by local warehousing infrastructure and on-site contacts.

4. In closing: How would you personally sum up the partnership?

Otto: Citat Henryja Forda to zelo dobro opisuje:

„Zbrati se je začetek, ostati skupaj je napredek, sodelovati pa je uspeh.“

Prav to živimo v Sloveniji – vsak dan.

A quote from Henry Ford describes it very aptly:

“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”

Conclusion

This success story from Slovenia impressively demonstrates how local presence, specialized expertise, and a partnership-based approach make all the difference. WACKER and Nordmann combine technological strength with genuine market proximity – thereby creating sustainable added value for the customers.

Thank you very much for the interview, Otto.
