Shaping the Future at the Nordmann Austrian Group

Nordmann News spoke with Günter Handler, Managing Director of the Nordmann Austrian Group, about the group’s strategic direction, the importance of partnerships and customer focus, as well as MoVE—the group-wide rollout of a new SAP system, which will go live at the Austrian Group on April 1, 2026.

Günter, what are your current strategic priorities for the Nordmann Austrian Group?

Günter: Our strategic focus is on the sustainable development of the Nordmann Austrian Group as an efficient, internationally coordinated entity. Given our presence in Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary, it is crucial to establish uniform structures, clear processes, and shared goals across the entire group.

A key priority in this regard is the continuous strengthening of our organization—both technologically and culturally. We are making targeted investments in efficiency, transparency, and collaboration to position the Austrian Group for the long term and ensure its competitiveness sustainably.

In this diverse environment, it is essential to be able to operate in a multicultural setting. At the Austrian Group, we embrace this diversity—for me, it’s the icing on the cake.

What role do partnerships and customer proximity play in your daily work?

Günter: For me, partnerships and customer proximity are the operational foundation of our success. In our daily interactions, the goal is to precisely understand our customers’ needs and to develop tailor-made solutions together with our suppliers and local teams.

Especially in an internationally structured group, this close dialogue on equal terms is crucial—it builds trust, strengthens long-term relationships, and enables us to be perceived as a competent, reliable partner in all markets.

With MoVE, Nordmann is introducing a new SAP system. What significance does this project hold for the Austrian Group?

Günter: MoVE, the group-wide implementation of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Sales Cloud V2, is a milestone for Nordmann and also for the Austrian Group. With the go-live on April 1, 2026, we are laying the foundation for harmonized, efficient processes and even better customer interaction. It is important to me that we view MoVE not just as an IT project, but as a joint transformation initiative that promotes transparency, collaboration, and future-readiness.

By creating a shared database, we are also laying the groundwork for using AI in a much deeper and more meaningful context in the future.

What drives you personally as Managing Director?

Günter: I am motivated by working with dedicated international teams to make a difference and take responsibility—for people, for structures, and for the further development of our company. For me, successful leadership means providing orientation and direction, building trust, and actively and courageous shaping change without losing sight of the people involved.

“Empower people”, my grandma always used to tell me: “Assume responsibility and look after your employees, and the rest will fall into place!”

Thank you very much for the interview, Günter.
