Revolutionary plant-based protein: Vertis™ CanolaPRO®

In the world of modern food and beverages, there is an ever-increasing demand for high-quality, plant-based proteins that not only meet the rising consumer interest in healthy and sustainable products, but also benefit the environment. This is where Nordmann partner and global leader in the food and nutrition industry, dsm-firmenich, steps in with a groundbreaking new solution: Vertis™ CanolaPRO®.

The innovation behind Vertis™ CanolaPRO®

Vertis™ CanolaPRO® is an innovative plant-based protein solution made from rapeseed, a proven and extremely promising alternative to vegan protein sources like soy, wheat and peas. dsm-firmenich has used its extensive expertise and technological know-how to harness the material’s potential and develop a unique product solution that meets the requirements of the modern food industry. The new Vertis™ CanolaPRO® protein isolate is readily soluble, pH-stable at values from 2-12 and delivers a pleasant mouthfeel. Containing no major allergens such as soy, gluten or milk, Vertis™ CanolaPRO® is a great option for people with allergies or food sensitivities. It is also excellent in combination with pea protein.

The advantages of Vertis™ CanolaPRO®

Outstanding nutritional profile

Vertis™ CanolaPRO® offers an outstanding nutritional profile that contains all nine essential amino acids that the human body needs for optimal health. This makes it an ideal product for supporting a balanced diet.

Bite and texture

Vertis™ CanolaPRO® protein improves the firmness and texture of meat- and fish-free food alternatives. It also provides for a pleasant mouthfeel in dairy substitutes and sports performance products (i.e. foods or supplements specially developed to improve athletic performance).

Sustainability

Rapeseed is one of the most sustainable crops in the world, requiring less water and less agricultural land than other protein sources such as beef or soy. By choosing rapeseed protein, companies can lower their CO2 footprints and support environmental protection efforts.

Versatility

Vertis™ CanolaPRO® is extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of different foods that includes meat substitutes, vegan dairy alternatives and snacks. Vertis™ CanolaPRO® can be used in baked goods such as sweet vegan pastries to serve as a bake-stable protein matrix. The product is also ideal for producing vegan deli and convenience products because of its excellent emulsifying properties and gelling power similar to eggs. This makes it a great choice for producing vegan dressings, mayonnaises and egg substitutes.

Characteristics similar to natural egg protein

The future of plant-based proteins

As awareness of health, sustainability and animal welfare continues to rise among consumers, the demand for plant-based proteins is only expected to grow. Products such as dsm-firmenich’s Vertis™ CanolaPRO® show that the food industry is ready to respond to these trends by developing innovative solutions that meet consumer needs.

All in all, Vertis™ CanolaPRO® offers an outstanding and innovative new option for food manufacturers to develop high-quality, plant-based and protein-rich foods that not only taste good, but also support human health and the well-being of the planet.
