TRISYL®: the future for cooking oils

The modern food industry faces the constant and growing challenge of satisfying demands for high-quality and nutritious products. This is where TRISYL® from Nordmann partner W. R. Grace comes in: a pioneering product that is currently setting new standards for cooking oils.

Grace developed and manufactured TRISYL® for use in the food industry, particularly in the refinement of cooking oils. This is because corn and sunflower oil, palm oil, rapeseed and soybean oil, fish oil, tallow and other specialty oils contain natural and processing-related impurities such as soaps, phospholipids and traces of metals. TRISYL® is a synthetic amorphous silica with unique properties that offers a range of benefits to help improve the quality, shelf life and stability of edible oils such as these.

Refinement

TRISYL® is designed to support physical and chemical finishing processes, as well as to simplify refinement techniques. It can also provide attractive advantages in terms of sustainability and ecology, such as reducing the amount of water and filter cakes that manufacturers need for processing. Finally, TRISYL® can be used to extend shelf life.
