Thermax® – The problem-solving Carbon Black
Whether in the automotive industry, medical technology, or energy technology, the demands on rubber materials are increasing. Thermax® meets these demands with a unique combination of thermal structure, large particle size, and variants with particularly low PAH content. The following sub headlines impressively demonstrate how versatile and powerful Thermax® is in practice.

Processing made easy
Thermax® N990 and N990UP ensure uniform dispersion in EPDM, NBR, CR, and silicone. The result? Homogeneous mixtures, reduced mixing energy, and lower viscosity—ideal for highly viscous compounds. In extrusion, this means more output with less effort.

Strong physical properties
Whether pharmaceutical stoppers, seals for PEM cells or wiper blades – Thermax® improves modulus, tensile strength and hardness. Ageing resistance is maintained or even increased. Longevity included.
Safety that convinces
Thermax® N990 meets the UL 94 VB standard for flame resistance – with significantly reduced burning time at 5 and 10 phr. At the same time, electrical insulation is maintained. Perfect for battery housings and cable sheathing.
Color stability: N990 impresses with its low tinting strength and pronounced blue undertone – ideal for producing cool gray tones in combination with titanium dioxide.
On the safe side when it comes to regulations
Thermax® N990CG scores with extremely low PAH content and FDA approval. It complies with EU 10/2011 and NSF 61 for drinking water systems. It also shows minimal extraction values in pharmaceutical applications – ideal for sensitive areas of application such as children's toys or medical technology.
Thermax® N990UP – Ultra Pure for sensitive systems
With Thermax® N990UP, Cancarb is launching an ultra-pure variant that has been specially developed for highly sensitive applications – such as in medical technology, food packaging, or demanding silicone crosslinking systems.
Crosslinking reliability: In platinum and DCBP-crosslinked silicones, N990UP shows significantly less inhibition of crosslinking than standard carbon blacks. Vulcanization stability is maintained over several weeks of storage.
Purity: With only 60 ppm sulfur and a neutral pH value, N990UP is particularly suitable for applications with high purity requirements – without compromising on technical performance.
Mechanics that last
In CR wiper blades and NBR seals, Thermax® improves abrasion resistance, elasticity, and tensile strength. The uniform distribution of tensile strength is indicative of excellent dispersion.
Resistant to chemicals and temperature
Whether acids, heat, or moisture – Thermax® remains stable. In EPDM seals for fuel cells and pharmaceutical stoppers, it demonstrates its resistance even under extreme conditions.
Whether as a functional filler in classic rubbers or as a high-purity pigment in silicone, Thermax® N990, N990CG, and N990UP offer tailor-made solutions for every challenge, suitable for anyone who refuses to compromise on elastomer formulations.
The outstanding tech features prove that Thermax® is not just a filler, but a real problem solver for modern rubber applications. Discover the versatility of Thermax® and take your products to the next level.
