Laura, why is vitamin C so popular in skin care products – and at the same time so challenging?
Laura: Vitamin C is a real multi-talent: it has an antioxidant effect, helps with acne, protects against UV damage, and supports skin regeneration. The challenge, however, lies in its instability – especially in its pure form as ascorbic acid, which oxidizes easily and requires a low pH value.

What solutions do you present in your lecture to get around these problems?
Laura: In addition to tips on stabilising Vitamin C, I also show various derivatives and alternatives that are more stable yet still highly effective. These include STAY-C® 50, which is significantly more stable than pure ascorbic acid, ASCORBOSILANE, a silicium combination with long-lasting and additional anti-aging effects and InnerRenewal CC+AA, which uses natural cornflower cells as a carrier system for vitamin C.

What can formulators take away from your presentation?
Laura: With the right raw materials, innovative and effective products can be developed – and I hope to inspire many with our ideas and concepts.
