Ulrike, what insights did you take away from the event?
Ulrike: I was particularly impressed by the opportunity to think outside the box. SEPAWA Austria offers the chance to gain new insights, examine current developments from various perspectives, and exchange ideas with industry experts. I was especially pleased to see so many familiar faces again. As a long-time member of SEPAWA Austria, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to reconnect with clients I had previously worked with in my former role as a product manager. It’s precisely this kind of personal interaction that makes such events so valuable.
Zivka, how important is SEPAWA Austria to you?
Zivka: SEPAWA Austria is an important platform for us to experience the latest developments in the cleaning industry firsthand. I found the discussions on sustainability, new regulatory requirements, and the question of how high-performance cleaning solutions can remain both user-friendly and efficient particularly exciting. My impression is that the focus is increasingly on intelligent formulation concepts that combine high performance, ease of use, and future-proof design. This is exactly where we, together with BYK, can support our customers with innovative solutions and technical expertise.
Marcel, you gave a technical presentation at the conference. What was it about?
Marcel: In my presentation titled “Nature-inspired clays: smart rheology for reactive systems”, I demonstrated both the benefits and the challenges of identifying a suitable rheology additive for reactive systems such as HClO and H₂O₂. Using our synthetic clay hydrogel technology, we can formulate stable, user-friendly systems that also deliver outstanding performance.
Which solutions were the focus of your work?
Marcel: The focus was on the products PURABYK-R 5500 and PURABYK-R 5501. Both products are based on synthetic layered silicates and enable the formulation of shear-thinning, thixotropic hydrogels for applications in the HI&I sector. The additives provide a stable gel structure and increase the contact time of disinfectants on surfaces. Furthermore, the products exhibit excellent stability in aqueous HClO and H₂O₂ solutions.

Günter, Nordmann, and BYK have been working together successfully for several years now. What makes this partnership special?
Günter: Successful partnerships are based on trust, technical know-how, and a shared understanding of customer requirements. That is exactly what connects Nordmann and BYK. Our partner BYK, which is part of the ALTANA Group, develops innovative specialty additives with high technical performance, while we contribute our market knowledge, application expertise, and close customer relationships. Together, we can offer customers not just products, but comprehensive solutions. SEPAWA Austria has once again demonstrated how valuable personal interaction is for driving innovation and tackling current challenges together.
Thank you very much for the interview.
