High-quality excipients for the pharmaceutical industry

For the manufacture of pharmaceutical dosage forms, Nordmann partners with Ingredion Pharma Solutions which has realigned and refocused its activities on high-quality, compendial excipients. These pharmaceutical excipients meet strict quality standards and are described in official monographs such as the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP-NF).

Excipients are substances used in pharmaceutical products but have no active effect. They serve various purposes, such as improving the API release, shelf-life stability, taste, or texture of a medication.

Ingredion's products are presented below according to dosage form.

Different tablets surrounded by leaves

Dosage form: Tablets and Hard Capsules

Function: Binding agent for direct compression

MANNITAB™ SD1 and SD2:

These spray-dried mannitol grades are characterized by excellent flowability and compressibility. They are ideal for direct tableting and are particularly suitable for chewable and rapidly disintegrating tablets. MANNITAB™ SD1 has an average particle size of 100 μm, while MANNITAB™ SD2 has a particle size of 170 μm.

Function: Binding agent for wet granulation

UNI-PURE® WG 220:

This fully pregelatinized corn starch is used as a binding agent in wet granulation. It improves the flow properties and compressibility of the granules. This simplifies the manufacturing process.

Function: Filler/Bulking agent and disintegrant

MANNITAB™ F1 and F2 and FARMAL® MN 5000:

These fine mannitol powders with various particle sizes are non-hygroscopic and offer high chemical and physical stability. They are ideal as fillers in tablets and capsules and improve the solubility and dissolution of active ingredients.

UNI-PURE® F Line:

This line comprises native corn starches with different moisture contents ranging from 2 to 15% and extra-white qualities. They can be used as fillers, and disintegrants in tablets and hard capsules and offer high flexibility in formulation.

Function: High-performance superdisintegrant

FARMAL® SSG (Sodium Starch Glycolate) Line:

These sodium starch glycolates, which are produced from either corn or potato, promote rapid disintegration and dissolution of solid dosage forms. They offer long-term stability of dissolution.

Function: Lubricant

FARMAL® SSF (Sodium Stearyl Fumarate):

It is a premium high-performance lubricant for tablet manufacturing. It reduces friction during the manufacturing tableting process, prevents material from sticking to equipment, and improves tablet hardness, uniformity, and disintegration time.
