Phenylmercuric nitrate

Phenylmercuric nitrate is a mercury compound frequently used in pharmaceutical manufacturing as a preservative and a stabilizer. It has been included in eye, nasal and ear drop formulations, though its use has been limited due to concerns regarding mercury toxicity. It is also utilized in the production of antiseptic solutions and as a germicide. The compound appears as a white to lightly colored crystalline powder.
