NIAX™ - Catalysts

Momentive's Niax™ Catalyst is a balanced gel blowing catalyst for use with methylene chloride or other auxiliary blowing agents that tend to destabilise foam formulations. It contains no glycol, so less isocyanate is consumed but the concentration of the active potassium salt is maintained. Thus, the isotropy of the foam can improve dimensional stability and compressive strength.

Momentive's NIAXTM catalysts control the reactions of polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) systems. The different reactions, such as trimerization, blow and gel catalysis are optimized by selecting the appropriate catalysts, so that an improvement in the production process or product properties is achieved.
The portfolio includes amine, reactive and potassium-based catalysts, which are used in soft and rigid foam systems as well as in compact systems such as coatings, adhesives and sealants and elastomers. The end products are used in a wide variety of industries, such as furniture, construction, automotive, sports flooring or industrial applications.
