N,N'-Carbonyldiimidazole, also known as CDI, is used in pharmaceutical manufacturing as a reagent in the synthesis of many organic compounds. It acts as a coupling and dehydrating agent in peptide synthesis, as well as a cyclizing agent in the synthesis of heterocycles.
