Kraton CirKular+™: innovation for circular economies

With its new CirKular+™ product line, Nordmann partner Kraton is responding to the global trend towards circular economies while offering innovative solutions for recyclers, industrial processors and brand manufacturers.

Circular economies and upcycling are major points of focus for the plastics industry around the world. “Consumer concerns about plastic waste management increase importance of circular economy. More and more companies are adopting business models that enable the reduction, reuse and recycling of plastics in various applications,” says Yuliya Streen, Global Strategic Marketing Director, Specialty Polymers at Kraton. These are developments that Kraton has responded to with the creation of a new product line.

HIGH-LEVEL RECYCLABILITY

CirKular+™ was developed specifically for upcycling plastics and modifying bioplastics. The styrene block copolymers featured in Kraton’s new line increase recyclability and post-consumer plastic content (PCR). These additives were designed to ensure compatibility with various plastics as well as improve overall performance in a wide variety of applications. They also boost cost savings along the value chain by helping to reduce the use of virgin plastics and at the same time increasing the recyclability of end products such as consumer goods, food packaging, industrial plastics or automotive parts.

This new product innovation from Kraton is also catching on in the recycling industry; the CirKular+™ product line has been nominated for the 2021 Plastics Recycling Awards Europe in the category of Product Technology Innovation. The nomination makes Streen proud: “We want to contribute to the circular economy by facilitating a holistic approach to the life cycle of plastic products.”

Distributed in Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.
