Nordmann expands its partnership with Mitsui Chemicals

Nordmann has expanded its partnership with Mitsui Chemicals and will be taking over the distribution of Mitsui EPT™ products in the European Union and Serbia.

Nordmann and Mitsui Chemicals Japan have collaborated together successfully on a variety of different projects in the past. Now their partnership is being intensified and expanded to cover the distribution of Mitsui’s standard EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) in the European Union and Serbia. The new agreement came into effect retroactively as of April 1.

Nordmann expands portfolio

Mitsui Chemicals is headquartered in Tokyo and manufactures products for a range of different industries and areas of life. The company also develops innovative and sustainable chemical products. Nordmann will be taking over the European distribution of Mitsui EPT™ EPDM for Mitsui Chemicals. “We are extremely proud to be involved in this special and loyal partnership with Mitsui,” says Torsten Heller, Global Sales Director Elastomers at Nordmann. “That Nordmann has been awarded the distribution rights for Mitsui EPT™ underscores the strategic approach to long-term partnerships that we take.”

Impressive resistance

Mitsui EPT™ is not only UV and ozone resistant, but also resistant to water and certain chemical influences. Additionally, the materials provide insulating properties.

In addition to supplying Mitsui EPT™ products with high-level process reliability, Mitsui Chemicals also offers specialty grades that feature very good cold flexibility and heat resistance. Varieties designed for different types of foam applications are also available.

The high degree of resistance that EPDM offers makes it one of the most versatile rubber materials on the market. EPDM is a popular choice for e.g. window seals, cooling water hoses, insulation and cable sheathing.

Mitsui Chemicals produces EPDM at a total of three different manufacturing plants, two in Japan and one in China. The EPDM distributed by Nordmann is produced using metallocene catalysts at the company’s larger facility in Japan, which has an output of 75,000 metric tons a year. “Nordmann has an excellent reputation in the rubber industry,” said Andreas Wissmann and Maarten Groot Roessink of the Mobility Division at Mitsui Chemicals. “We look forward to growing our EPDM business in the European Union and Serbia together with such a strong partner.”
