Nordmann at the 2023 European Coatings Show

Multinational chemical distributor Nordmann will be exhibiting together with its partners Albemarle, Honeywell, SNCZ and Soltech at the 2023 European Coatings Show (ECS) in Nuremberg from March 28 to 30. The ECS is a must-attend trade fair representing the international paints, coatings, sealants and adhesives industries, as well as construction chemicals.

Nordmann has been a regular exhibitor at the ECS for 30 years and is looking forward to meeting business partners and other visiting professionals at this major industry event after its long break. In addition to the company’s co-exhibitors, representatives from several of Nordmann’s international offices will be on-site in Nuremberg as well.

The primary focus of the 2023 show will be on new products. Torsten Heller, Global Sales Director CASE, Composites, Construction, Rubber at Nordmann, sets the stage: “To touch on just a few highlights from our co-exhibitors: Albemarle is now able to measure the carbon footprint of its Ethacure® product range, and Honeywell will be showcasing its pioneering line of A-C® additives – synthetic waxes that improve the performance of paints and coatings by optimizing their scratch resistance, abrasion resistance, slip, matting, adhesion and surface feel. Our partner SNCZ will be presenting a new, high-performance and environmentally friendly anti-corrosion pigment at the show, and Soltech is all about special UV/EB curing oligomers and urethane acrylates.” Heller continues: “In addition to the many innovations from our partners, our team will also be promoting Nordmann’s own brands. For example, our NORPUR PTMEG products: high-quality raw materials used as soft-segment building blocks in high-performance polyurethanes. These are available in a number of different molecular weights that each offer outstanding dynamic properties, flexibility at low temperatures and hydrolysis resistance.”

Another important focus of the 2023 ECS is sustainability. Peter Kuchenbrod, Business Manager Coatings & Inks at Nordmann, comments: “As in many industries, sustainability is a major issue of our time – and, in my view, coatings are inherently sustainable. A coating as fine as a human hair, for example, can protect a car from corrosion for 20 years. This extends a vehicle’s service life dramatically, and it also looks good! More and more these days, too, we can change how coatings are formulated – basing them on renewable or even recycled raw materials instead of petrochemicals. We support efforts like these wherever we can, and our ideas are gaining traction with others.”

“The crises seen in recent years have led laboratories in the raw materials industry, as well as in coatings and printing inks, to look to new sources of raw materials. Last year, we worked hard with our suppliers on the issue of sustainable raw materials and put together a ‘green’ product portfolio,” adds Dr. Björn Henninger, Sales Director CASE, Composites, Construction & Industrial Solutions at Nordmann.

Dr. Gerd Bergmann, Managing Director at Nordmann, remarks: “Nordmann, as a family business focused on the long term, has always been sustainable. Our economic success is tied to the honest and responsible business practices we uphold, and we are committed to respecting, protecting and developing the natural, social and economic resources of the next generation. It’s only natural that we have defined sustainability as a fundamental part of our corporate strategy."

“In addition, we are of course very gratified to be able to look back on our sustainable company history. This year we are celebrating our 111th anniversary at Nordmann, with the theme ‘Thank you for 111 years’. That fills us with an enormous sense of pride.

At the last ECS in 2019, we announced the adoption of a new and uniform brand name – ‘Nordmann’ – for all 24 of our subsidiaries as part of the company’s rebranding process. Since then, a lot has happened! We’ve made significant gains in growth, with last year being the most successful in our company’s history. It’s with optimism that we look to the future, despite the challenges affecting the market and the world,” Bergmann concludes.

Visitors to the ECS in Nuremberg will find Nordmann and its partners at Booth 3-126 in Hall 3 from March 28 to 30.
