INEOS Gelcoats

Nordmann INEOS gelcoats

Gelcoats are special resins used to create plastic components with smooth and glossy surfaces. They are usually applied as topcoats on composite materials like glass fibers or carbon fibers, forming a protective barrier to prevent damage from environmental factors such as UV radiation or moisture. Gelcoats can also be used to manufacture molded items that feature smooth, uniform surfaces with no air pockets or other imperfections. The INEOS gelcoats we carry are available in a variety of colors and can be customized to meet the specific needs of each individual application.

Despite coats only being 500µm thick, choosing the right gelcoat is still crucial for the quality and final properties of each finished component. Regardless of whether you opt for HLU (hand lay-up) or RTM (resin transfer molding) technology, getting the formulation and raw materials right is essential for achieving the desired levels of gloss, lightfastness and chemical resistance.

Only high-quality, tried-and-tested raw materials are used to make INEOS Enguard and Maxguard gelcoats. Our pigments also meet the highest requirements for weather resistance and color fastness.

Enguard and Maxguard gelcoats and topcoats

INEOS Enguard and Maxguard gelcoats and topcoats have been thoroughly tested for long-term stability and optimally formulated to offer the best processing properties of both brushable and sprayable coatings. They are safe, easy to handle and able to guarantee deaeration, flow and reliable curing.

Colors

We can supply INEOS gelcoats in virtually any color. Upon request, we can also adjust any color shade within 48 hours using our partner Enorica’s tinting facilities. With INEOS InstintTM technology, we can color even small quantities very quickly and in any of several thousand different shades, provided the desired hue is on file.

What distinguishes INEOS gelcoats:

  • INEOS gelcoats are based on unsaturated polyester resins and supplied ready for processing. The use of additives is not necessary and in fact would lead to uncontrollable and undesirable effects.
  • INEOS gelcoats are supplied in pre-accelerated form. Gelation and curing times can be adjusted by the type and amount of peroxide added.
  • The gelcoats have a high level of storage stability and most can be kept for up to five months. The containers should be stored at room temperature and protected from sunlight.

In short, INEOS gelcoats are premium raw materials that provide the best quality, color options and processing characteristics to support your finished components.
