At its Bergheim facility, Huber Martinswerk manufactures more than 100 specialty chemical products based on aluminum hydroxide and aluminum oxide, as well as organic matting agents and carrier substances. Founded in Bergheim in 1914 and part of the Huber family since 2016, the company is one of the market leaders in the production of halogen-free flame retardants and specialty products.

Martoxid® is known across the market as a calcined aluminium oxide developed for demanding applications in technical ceramics, refractories, polishing and grinding, and high‑performance industrial materials. The product portfolio combines excellent mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance with optimized particle engineering to ensure reliable processing and consistent performance.

General properties (industry‑standard):

• Very high chemical purity with low alkali content (Na₂O < 0.1%)
• Optimized particle size distribution and fine particle grades for controlled processing
• Extreme hardness, high mechanical strength, and excellent wear, temperature, and corrosion resistance

Compalox® refers to high‑performance activated aluminum oxides from Huber Advanced Materials, designed for adsorption processes in chemical, environmental, and industrial applications. The product is engineered to remove impurities efficiently from liquid and gaseous media and can be tailored to specific use cases through controlled activation processes.

Martinal® is a high‑purity aluminum hydroxide (ATH) used as a halogen‑free flame retardant and smoke suppressant in a wide range of polymer applications, including plastics, elastomers, CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) and wire & cable. It is available in various grades such as finely precipitated, ground, surface‑treated or low‑viscosity types to fit different processing needs. 

Key properties:

• Excellent flame‑retardant and smoke‑reducing performance
• Multiple particle sizes and surface treatments available
• Suitable for high filler loadings
• Provides good mechanical and processing balance

Magnifin® is a magnesium hydroxide (MDH)–based halogen‑free flame retardant, ideal for applications requiring higher processing temperatures than ATH can withstand—such as elastomers, engineering plastics, and wire & cable compounds. It also contributes to smoke suppression. 

Key properties:

• Thermally stable at higher temperatures than ATH
• Provides effective flame retardancy and smoke suppression
• Available in different fineness levels for formulation flexibility

Kemgard® is widely known within Huber’s portfolio as a family of molybdate‑based smoke suppressants used in PVC and other chlorinated polymer systems.

• Improves char formation and reduces smoke density
