Today, many Nordmann customers in the personal care sector are formulating cosmetic products that feature the natural power of sustainable raw materials from European origin. Here’s a quick look at some portfolio highlights.

High-performance coffee grounds 
KAFFIBRE® INCI: Coffea Arabica Seed Powder

Producer: Kaffe Bueno

Produced from spent coffee grounds after Kaffe Bueno’s other unique product, Kaffoil®, is extracted, Kaffibre® is an upcycled natural exfoliant that can replace plastic microbeads and provide a cost-effective alternative to other natural exfoliating ingredients.

High-value olive oil byproducts
Phytosqualan® INCI: Squalane

Producer: Sophim

Sophim uses upcycled by-products from the agricultural industry – olives, specifically – as raw materials to produce phytosqualan. In addition to improving skin elasticity, this active ingredient can also help speed the repair damaged skin and restore its natural barrier function. 

Moisturizing microalgae
Algomega NP® INCI: Nannochloropsis Oculata, Porphyra Umbilicalis, Silybum Marianum Seed Oil

Producer: Gelyma

An oil-soluble active ingredient derived from algae to provide care for very dry, stressed and sensitive skin. In addition to a lot of moisture, it offers effective protection for the skin barrier. The algae are harvested in Natura 2000 areas of Brittany and in accordance with French regulations for organic farming.

Protective red vine leaf extract
Redivine INCI: Grape (Vitis Vinifera) LeafExtract

Producer: Exsymol

A red vine leaf extract with anti-pollution effects from organically cultivated grapevines in the Spanish region of Castilla La Mancha, one of the most important wine regions in the world. Among its many benefits, it activates the skin’s natural defenses, stimulates both glutathione production and NQO-1 synthesis and prevents inflammation.

Sustainable rapeseed oil 
Lipex PreAct™ INCI: Canola Oil

Producer: AAK Personal Care

This sustainable rapeseed oil from Sweden provides a rich and environmentally conscious source of functional lipids. From GMO-free cultivation, the oil is rich in antioxidant tocopherols and anti-inflammatory phytosterols that have protective effects on proteins and cell membranes.

Upcycled colored pigments
SunPURO® Iron Oxides

Producer: SunChemical

A unique upcycling practice known as the chloride process is used to produce SunPURO® iron oxides. A special solution (pickle liquor) serves to separate titanium dioxide from its red, black and yellow iron ores.

Highly effective extracts from the Swiss Alps
ALPAFLOR® Edelweiss CB INCI: Glycerin, Aqua, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Citric Acid

Producer: DSM

Helvetia edelweiss is cultivated at high altitude in the Swiss Alps, then specially treated to obtain maximum levels of its active compounds.

Hair conditioner from potatoes
Sensomer™ CI-50 polymer INCI: Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride

Producer: Lubrizol

Naturally produced, non-GMO polysaccharide derived from food-grade potato starch (origin: Europe). It nourishes hair and skin while providing other unique benefits.

“Active water” from fruit
CYTOFRUIT® Waters BIO99

Producer: Roelmi

100% biologically active water, naturally fortified with oligoelements and obtained from the by-products of juice production.

Sustainable multitalent
A-Leen® 5

Producer: Minasolve

Versatile ingredient sustainably produced from agricultural waste materials using green chemistry. It serves as a natural emollient, humectant, preservative booster and extraction solvent.

Even natural can smell good
NatFlor® fragrances, INCI: Parfum

Producer: TechnicoFlor

Nature-based and Cosmos-compliant fragrances, customized to individual requirements (allergen-free, vegan, etc.). The biodegradability of each fragrance is evaluated and reported to customers.
